Landfills

How much lifespan does your landfill have left? How many passes are your compactors taking over each section? Read below to learn how a shredder can make and save you money.

Why run a HAMMEL shredder on your landfill?

FeatureBenefit
What's in it for me?
Volume ReductionTypical C&D and MSW will be reduced in volume 2:1 to 4:1Perhaps the single most important benefit to a landfill - material compacts more efficiently, extending the lifespan of your landfill

Easier Material HandlingThe shredded material is handled with less effortAchieve desired compaction with fewer passes - less wear and tear on your compactors, less fuel and time used!

More FinesRun shredded material over a screen to create more finesDepending on your setup, you could incorporate a screen and produce your own ADC

Over-Belt MagnetSeparates out over 95% of ferrous metalsYou can sell this valuable scrap metal and make money rather than spend it! Also it won't stick out of your slopes anymore- less wear and tear on your other equipment and a better-looking landfill.

No damage when feeding "unshreddables"

Even when you accidentally feed the machine a solid I-Beam, the hydraulic monitoring keeps the machine from harming itself. Worst case scenario is that you notice reduced production rates and have to pull out the unprocessable material.

Machine size for a landfill is mostly dictated by the required throughput volume, as well as where on the landfill it will be utilized. Shredding all incoming material will probably require an 850 or 950. We also offer solutions for re-mining your existing landfill to recover ferrous and non-ferrous metals, soil, and reducing its volume. These projects typically include screens, as well as non-ferrous metal separators. Stationary set-ups with detached power units are available for either application, as are electric machines on tracks!
